Steve Bate Ph.D., was born in Konye, a small village in Cameroon, into a humble farming family originally from Ossing (Ossing Oburutu) in Manyu Division. From an early age, Steve’s life was shaped by perseverance, sacrifice, and an unshakable belief in the power of education. His childhood—marked by family hardship, farm work, and the challenges of pursuing schooling in rural Cameroon—laid the foundation for a story of extraordinary determination. Inspired by his fascination with road construction machinery, Steve nurtured a dream of becoming an engineer at a time when few in his community had ever imagined such a path. Despite facing adversity, societal expectations, and moments of deep personal struggle, he pressed forward with resilience, guided by the unwavering support of his family and the encouragement of teachers and people of good will along the way. Today, Steve Bate holds a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and stands as a testament to what couragement, faith, and persistence can achieve.
